At a time when most brands are debating whether AI will replace creative work, ExpressVPN is taking a different approach: using AI to open up the creative process to everyone.
*
Off the back of its FIFA partnership, the company has launched The Big Ad Contest — a global competition inviting people to create a short AI-generated ad for the brand.
*
The winning entry will run during a Times Square Digital Takeover in partnership with Clear Channel Outdoor, in the week leading up to the World Cup Final, alongside World Cup ticket prizes from the Round of 16 through to the Final.
*
This campaign is an example of how community-led marketing can work when AI makes it easier for more people to create ads. The initiative builds on ExpressVPN’s wider use of AI-generated advertising in its marketing, where it uses AI to communicate cybersecurity messages and positions it as an enabler of creativity rather than a replacement for human talent.
*
The campaign is being promoted through Artlist’s network of 15 million creators and judged by a panel including Nas Daily, Google Industry Manager Adva Navon, and Artlist VP Brand Marketing Liran Friedman.
*
ExpressVPN CMO, Ori Shavit, (ex Google) is available to discuss the thinking behind the campaign and how brands can use AI to democratize creativity. We’ve also included the quotes below in case it is useful for your pieces.
